"Is It All Right Now?"
A Simple Technique For Dealing With Fear

1. Choose an activity that you either want or have to do, but you dread doing it.

Examples: Going to the dentist, making that important phone call, the dreaded job interview.

2. Schedule a specific time to do it.

3. In between now and then, you are liable to experience moments of anxiety(!). Whenever you find yourself beginning to feel afraid, take a deep breath and ask yourself, "Is it all right now?" If the answer is NO! check again. Any lions, tigers, or bears? If you knew that you wouldn't really have to do what it is you fear, would you feel all right now?

4. Repeat Step 3 as often as necessary.

5. When the scheduled date and time arrive, begin to do what it is that you feared doing. Keep checking in at every step of the process, and notice how much of the time it is (you are) actually all right now.

Example: Making the call. It's all right looking up the number. It's all right picking up the phone. It's even all right listening to it ring. Uh, oh, someone's picking up. It's them! They're saying, "Hello?" They want to know who it is! Aargh! Aaaargh! Is it all right now? I take a deep breath and begin to look around as we continue speaking. No lions, no tigers, no bears. Yes, it is all right now!I

t's normal to feel afraid or anxious about new things or stepping into the unknown. However, if your fears are constantly holding you back from actually doing what you want or need to be doing, why not try a hypnosis session to tame your inner ghosties and goblins?
